IN the year 1952, Mr. Ambo's birthday fell on a Monday, September the 2,2nd. He celebrated it in all quietness till evening, rising late as became an elderly man, enjoying the warmth of autumn's first golden day as he walked sedately in the garden, and arranging the books that had arrived by that morning's post, sweet-smelling as new bread. He would never be too old to enjoy the pleasure of handling pages fresh from the printing-house and seeing the brave heraldic colours of new dust-jackets on his shelves.

A superb copy of a very scarce Mr Ambo mystery
