Moris Klaw Moris Klaw, the Dream Detective, describes himself as "an old fool who sometimes has wise dreams." He is able to absorb the atmosphere of the criminal act by lying down and sleeping at the scene of a crime. He carries an odically sterilized red silk cushion. From the lining of his archaic brown bowler, he takes a scent spray and plays its contents on his high, bald brow, an odor of verbena fill ing the air. His skin has the color of dirty vellum and his hair, eyebrows, and beard are so toneless as to be virtually without color. He wears gold-rimmed pince-nez, a silk muffler, and a long black cloak. He is an antiques dealer and has a gray parrot that announces a visitor with, "The Devil has come for you, Moris Klaw." A bit of a charlatan, Klaw has frequently been accused of being an insane theorist, yet he has never failed to point his finger at the guilty party. He is assisted by his beautiful brunette daughter, the graceful Isis. Sir Denis Nayland Smith |
