PLAYER, Robert. Pseudonym for Robert Furneaux Jordan. British. Born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, 10 April 1905. Educated at King Edward VI School, Birmingham; Birmingham School of Art; Architectural Association School. London, Dip, A. A. 1928: Associate, Royal Institute of British Architects, 1928. Married Eira Furneaux Jordan in 1965. In private practice as architect. 1928-61; Lecturer. 1934-63, and Principal. 1948-51, Architectural Association School; Hoffman Wood Professor of Architecture, University of Leeds, 1961-62; Visiting Professor, Syracuse University, New York. Frequent broadcaster and lecturer; Architectural Correspondent, Observer, London. 1951-61. Fellow, Royal Institute of British Architects. Died 14 May 1978.
