Brief Biography
BARNARD, Robert. British. Born in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, 23 November 1936. Educated at Royal Grammar School, Colchester, Essex, 1948-56; Balliol College. Oxford (exhibitioner). B.A. 1959; University of Bergen, Norway, Ph. D. 1972. Married Mary Louise Tabor in 1963. Lecturer in English. University of New England, Armidale. New South Wales. 1961-66; Lecturer, later Senior Lecturer in English, University of Bergen, 1966-76; Professor of English, University of Troms0, Norway, 1976-84.
