LOVESEY, Peter (Harmer). Also writes as Peter Lear. British. Born in Whitton, Middlesex. 10 September 1936. Educated at Hampton Grammar School, 1947-55; University of Reading, Berkshire. 1955-58, B.A, (honours) in English 1958. Served as an Education Officer in the Royal Air Force, 1958-61. Married Jacqueline Ruth Lewis in 1959; one daughter and one son. Lecturer in English, Thurrock Technical College, Essex, 1961-69; Head of General Education Department, Hammersmith College for Further Education, London, 1969-75. Recipient: Crime Writers Association Silver Dagger, 1979, Gold Dagger, 1983
