DICKINSON, Peter (Malcolm de Brissac), British. Born in Livingstone, Zambia, 16 December 1927. Educated at Eton College (King's Scholar), 1941-46; King's College, Cambridge (exhibitioner), B.A. 1951. Served in the British Army, 1946-48. Married Mary Rose Bernard in 1953; two daughters and two sons. Assistant Editor and reviewer. Punch. London, 1952-69. Chairman of the Management Committee, Society of Authors, 1978-80. Recipient: Crime Writers Association Gold Dagger, 1968. 1969; Guardian Award, 1977; Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, for non-fiction, 1977; Whitbread Award, 1979; Library Association Carnegie Medal, 1980, 1981
