Inspector Tibbett Inspector (later Chief Superintendent) Henry Tibbett does not look like a great detective. He is in his mid-forties, has a slight frame, undistinguished features, mild blue eyes, sandy hair, quiet voice, and diffident manner. His subordinates, however, know he has high standards and they act accordingly. Tibbett's wife, Emmy, is sophisticated, pleasant, with a tendency to gain weight more rapidly than she would like. The couple is inseparable and she accompanies him whenever a case takes him from their London home the ground floor of a shabby, cheerful Victorian house in the border area between Fulharn and Chelsea. In spite of their years, they are not complacent, recently took up skiing and yachting. |
