Synopsis - About this Book
Gregory Fall, a newspaper photographer, arrived in Majorca to work with a free-lance journalist. It was not Chuck Kenner, however, whom he met first, but Isabel Kenner, his wife. Isabel was desperate. Unwittingly, she had fallen into one of Chuck's schemes; and here she was, smuggling diamonds. But she would not go through with it. She would give the diamonds back to Chuck, and then leave him.
But the diamonds disappeared; and though it was dangerous to carry them, it was, as Chuck, Barney his partner, and the middleman Maurice LePlan all knew, even more dangerous to lose them.
For losses were Freitag's concern, and he had his orders. Freitag was what happened when middlemen made an error of judgment.
