YORKE, Margaret. Pseudonym for Margaret Beda Nicholson. nee Larminie. British. Born in Compton, Surrey, 30 January 1924. Educated at Prior's Field. Godalming, Surrey. Served in the Women's Royal Naval Service. 1942-45. Married Basil Nicholson in 1945 (divorced. 1957); one daughter and one son. Assistant Librarian. St. Hilda's College, Oxford, 1959-60; Library Assistant, Christ Church, Oxford, 1963-65. Vice-Chairman. 1978. and Chairman, 1979, Crime Writers Association, Recipient: Swedish Academy of Detection award, 1982.
