The book shows no names, inscriptions or stamps but has bookplate to pastedown, very nice one and the Earl of Morley's !
Clean text block, a few light spots to edges and boards, tight and square
The jacket is unclipped with no real loss
An excellent mystery and a very collectable author

The book shows no names, inscriptions or stamps etc
Clean text block and boards, tight and square
Not released unexpurgated in the US till the 1980's
Reading the first page seems at first to suggest why it was censored for the US market
However it is, I believe, the twist at the end

Brief Biography
LATIMER, Jonathan (Wyatt). Also writes as Peter Coffin. American. Born in Chicago, Illinois, 23 October 1906. Educated at Mesa Ranch School, Arizona, 1922-25; Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois, A.B. 1929 (Phi Beta Kappa). Served in the United States Navy, 1942-45. Married 1) Ellen Baxter Peabody in 1937, one daughter and two sons; 2) Jo Ann Han?lik in 1954. Journalist: reporter. Herald-Examiner (later Chicago Tribune), 1930-33; ghostwriter for Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes; screenwriter after 1940. Died 23 June 1983.
