About the Author
John Sherwood was born in Cheltenham in 1913 and educated at Marlborough and Oriel College, Oxford. He started to write because he wanted to record the trance-like condition of defeated Germany in the first post-war months of 1945, and what came out of this was a thriller. He is married to a radio interviewer and producer, and they have a daughter.

He is the nephew of James Elroy Flecker and a staff scriptwriter with the B.B.C. for their external services. His other books are: The Disappearance of Dr Bruder-stein, Mr Blessington's Imperialist Plot, Ambush for Anaios, Two Died in Singapore, Vote Against Poison, and Undiplomatic Exit.
