1963 British paperback edition, Hodder in London
A nice clean book
Tight and square, minor rubs
"IT is the most difficult task there is," said the tall man, whose black clerical garb went ill with the bright green of grass and trees, and made the hot autumn day seem hotter than it was. I have" been told that if it can be done, Dr. Palfrey will find a way." Palfrey, in grey flannels, sprawled back in a deck-chair, watching some 'flannelled fools' playing cricket. "It isn't my business to work miracles, Bishop," he said mildly.
"Yet I'm told you've worked them."

The chain of nautical disasters looked like a run of bad luck.
