Brief Biography
Ian Rankin was born in Scotland in 1960 though he now lives in London and France. He had a diverse number of jobs before becoming a full time novelist. The winner of several major awards including the coveted Chandler Fulbright prize.

Series Characters
Inspector Rebus
A tough, gritty and resourceful Scottish detective. Very well crafted and has grown in stature as the books have progressed. Now rightly claims his place amongst the great modern UK detectives such as Wexford and Morse.
