Brief Biography
KEATING, Henry Reymond Fitzwalter. British. Born in St. Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex, 31 October 1926. Educated at Merchant Taylors' School, London, 1940-44; Trinity College, Dublin (Vice-Chancellor's Prose Prize), 1948-52, B.A. 1952. Served in the British Army, 1945-48. Married Sheila Mary Mitchell in 1953;three sons and one daughter. Sub-Editor, Wiltshire Herald, Swindon, 1953-56; Daily Telegraph, London, 1956-58; and Times, London, 1958-60; crime books reviewer. Times, 1967-83. Chairman. Crime Writers Association, 1970-71. Recipient: Crime Writers Association Gold Dagger, 1964; Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allan Poe Award, 1965, 1980; Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine prize, for short story, 1970.
