Brief Biography
CARMICHAEL, Harry. Pseudonym for Leopold Horace Ognall; also wrote as Hartley Howard. British, Born in Montreal. Canada, 20 June 1908. Educated at Rutherglen Academy, Lanarkshire, to age 13. Married Cecilia Jacobson in 1932; two sons and one daughter. Journalist in Glasgow, Leeds, and Manchester, and worked as an efficiency engineer and in a mail order firm before 1939. Died in April 1979.
