Elizabeth George is an American author, something many miss as they presume she is English. This is a testament to her work and her series characters. Inspector Lynley has rightly earned his place amongst the great modern detectives. The character has always been a favourite amongst collectors and those readers 'in the know'. The highly successful television adaptation however brought the author a much wider audience and greater appreciation. Despite the books being relatively recent some are notoriously difficult to track down in UK 1st edition status. Small English print runs and public library allocations being the problem. If unaware of the authors work then you really are missing a treat |
