A solid vintage reading copy
The book shows no names or stamps, usual page tan
The wrapper has some wear to edges and loss to spine top

Synopsis ~ What this Books is About
THE Villa in St. John's Wood had remained unoccupied for many years, a lovely old house which in Jeremy Hazely's eyes enshrined the ghosts of dead lovers and held for him the far-off memories of a child's delight. But the peace of the old house was rudely disturbed when Timothy Broughton Hazely, an American kinsman of the Hazelys, went to St. John's Wood to see the family ghosts. On entering the villa he finds at the foot of the stairs the body of a man with his neck broken by an obvious fall. Inspector Macdonald, imperturbable, capable and intelligent as usual, plays a prominent part in this brilliantly told and flawless mystery, which must rank high among E. C. R. Lorac's novels.
