Cry Wolfram ~ Douglas Sanderson
1959 UK hardback first edition, first impression published by Secker & Warburg in London A VG+ book in VG price clipped dustwrapper Clean cloth and text block, light edge tan The wrapper has small chip to rear panel corner, shallow loss to spine ends and rubs to edges Fabulous period jacket artwork Cry Wolfram is full of excitement and its intricacies of plot are skilfully resolved. The characters—the whore who brings shame to her bull-fighter son, the sadistic chief of police, the gypsies with whom Johnny takes refuge —are live human beings far removed from the stock figures of much crime fiction. And scenes such as the Good Friday procession, and the bullfight with which the book ends, are redolent of the Spain which the author knows so well. Murder Came Tumbling Down by Martin Brett aka Douglas Sanderson
1959 English hardcover first edition, first impression published by Hammond & Hammond in London A VG+ book in VG++ unclipped dust jacket Clean cloth and contents, couple of light spots to edge, tight and square The wrapper has no loss or tears - really bright Outstanding cover design The main reason for William Marshall's visit to St. Genebald was to write articles about a famous English actress. He was also hoping that the local peace and quiet would help him to recover from a mild breakdown he had recently suffered in Boston. A body came tumbling down from the tree tops. Was it suicide? Bill thought it was murder and set about persuading people of the fact. He worked so hard at it that he became number one suspect. Everybody doubted his sanity. There were times when he doubted it himself, especially when — The dead woman popped back one night to see him; soft crackling footsteps pursued him through the depth of the wood. A very rare book and in lovely condition For Sale at £47 (approx $75) *df7 - free delivery worldwide ! |
