DEXTER, (Norman) Colin. British. Born in Stamford, Lincolnshire, 29 September 1930. Educated at Stamford School, 1940-48; Christ's College. Cambridge, 1950-54, B.A. 1953, M. A. 1958. Served in the Royal Corps of Signals, 1948-50. Married Dorothy Cooper in 1956; one daughter and one son. Assistant Classics Master. Wyggeston School, Leicester, 1954-57. and Loughborough Grammar School, 1957-59; Senior Classics Master, Corby Grammar School, Northamptonshire, 1959-66. Assistant Secretary, 1966-78. and since 1978, Senior Assistant Secretary, Oxford Local Examinations. Former national champion, Ximenes and Azed crossword competitions. Recipient: Crime Writers Association Silver Dagger Award. 1979, 1981. M.A.: Oxford University, 1966
