Detective Inspector Sloan
Detective Inspector C D Sloan is head of the Criminal Investigation Department in Berebury, a small market town in West Calleshire. Because of his understanding wife, Margaret, the fortyish Sloan has a happy home life. He enjoys pottering about in the little garden behind his house. He is fond of literary allusions and has a fine sense of humor-a necessity in dealing with his stodgy supervisor, Superintendent Leyes, and his callow assistant, Detective Constable Crosby.
