Blurb
CARYL BRAHMS AND S.J.SIMON 'Lunatics of genius' — 'My favourite vice' — 'Best pair of satirists' — 'Inspired nonsense' — these and similar amiable aspersions have been hurled at the heads of Caryl Brahms and S. J. Simon by an admiring.press ever since the appearance of their first book A BULLET IN THE BALLET. It is sad to note that this is maintained even when the authors pride themselves on having been poignant. Caryl Brahms and S. J. Simon began an unofficial collaboration in the late twenties when they became Low's famous dog 'Mussolini' on the EVENING STANDARD Home Page. Their success was immediate — the Italian Embassy protested and the dog's name was changed to 'Musso'. Since then they have written eleven books including NO BED FOR BACON (Penguin 671), DON'T MR. DISRAELI (Penguin 715), SIX CURTAINS FOR STROGANOVA and their latest full-length novel, TROTTIE TRUE, which is now being filmed. In the intervals of fictional lunacy, Caryl Brahms and S. J. Simon are well-known experts on Ballet and Bridge respectively. Miss Brahms is the EVENING STANDARD ballet critic and is the author of a number of books on the subject; Mr Simon, in addition to writing a number of books on bridge and a weekly article in THE OBSERVER, was a member of the English team which won the European Championship at Copenhagen in 1948.
