Colonel March
When Scotland Yard receives a complaint that does not seem reasonable, it is sent to Room D-3, Department of Queer Complaints, presided .over by Colonel March. He is a large, amiable, sandy-mustached pipe-srnoker who specializes in solving the impossible.
Bald-headed, cigar-chomping, evilly scowling Sir Henry Merrivale has a rare genius (shared only by Dr Gideon Fell) for getting involved in locked-room murders or otherwise impossible situations. Elbowing aside the inadequate Inspector Humphrey Masters of the Yard, H.M. never fails to explain how the crime was committed, while providing generous portions of low comedy and intellectual excitement.
