Arthur Crook Arthur Crook is a shrewd, scheming lawyer whose sharp-tongued speech often betrays his Cockney origin. He has lived most of his life in London's Brandon Street, a block that managed to survive the worst attacks of Hitler's Luftwaffe. His appearance has been compared unfavorably with Toad of Toad Hall. A burly man, he has a bright red face, bright red hair and a bright red car, which looks as if it had been manufactured from old tin cans, and which Crook drives at unreasonable speeds. The beer-drinking lawyer believes all his clients are guiltless. If he can not convince the police of their innocence, he puts on his other hat and finds the criminal. |
