Leonidas Witherall
Gentleman scholar and headmaster of an exclusive New England boys' academy, Leonidas Witherall is also the pseudonymous .author of the popular exploits of Lieutenant Haseltine. Witherall's chief recreation seerns to be trying to extricate himself and his friends from farcical problems of a homicidal nature while he struggles to maintain his dignity. He is referred to as "Bill" because of his resemblance to Shakespeare.
