Brief Biography
HUNTER, Alan (James Herbert). British. Born in Hoveton. Norfolk, 25 June 1922. Educated al Wroxham School, Norfolk. 1927-36; studied advertising. B.Ins. 1939. Served as an aircraft electrician in the Royal Air Force VoJunteer Reserve, 1940-46. Married Adelaide Cubitt in 1944; one daughter. Poultry farmer, Norfolk, 1936-40; manager of antiquarian books department. Charles Cubitt, booksellers. Norwich, 1946-49; owner, Mad-dermarket Bookshop, Norwich. 1950-57. Regular contributor since 1955, and crime fiction reviewer, 1955-71, Eastern Daily Press, Norwich.
